From Tattnall Co.:

Penny and her husband raised a daughter who graduated from a private school in south Georgia. They thought they were headed for the empty nester life. But, life threw them a curveball.

“We weren’t expecting to have two small kids at this time in our life,” she says. “But, the good Lord sent us two foster children that we fell in love with and decided to adopt. Yes, we are older and were slowing down but wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Her husband had just retired, so private school was not in the financial plans for the family. However, one of their daughters was struggling with learning to read in public school, and Penny felt she needed more one-on-one instruction. She says the Learning to Serve Scholarship came at just the right time. “We wanted our adopted kids to have the same great education as our older daughter,” she says. “Our daughter now has a tutor and the teachers are great in assisting her with her needs. They are patient and loving even when she struggles.

“We could not send our kids there without this assistance from Learning to Serve. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
