Helpful Tips for your Learning to Serve Student Scholarship Application

The 2025-2026 Learning to Serve Student Scholarship Application is open our website. Here are our top tips to help your application shine!

1) If you haven’t already, go ahead and complete your service project. While we do not set an amount of hours to be completed, we do ask that the service be something that your student/your family is passionate about and something that helps them understand the sacrificial aspect of service. No child is too young or too busy to serve. The point is for them to understand that they are helping earn their scholarship to the school of their choice. This should come with some sacrifice on the student’s part.

2) Include a good quality picture of the student completing the service project they talk about in their essay. Having pictures of them completing their service helps us tell the story of Learning to Serve, which helps us raise funds for scholarships.

3) Have the child complete the essay. We are not looking for perfection; we are looking for authenticity. If the child is too young to write, you can do it interview-style and write their answers down.

4) Please take the time to carefully read the form, consider your answers and double check your form before clicking submit. Check for correct spelling, especially when submitting email addresses and school names. Any typos in the data slows down our evaluation process.

5) Submit it well before the March 15 deadline. Please don’t delay – the sooner you submit it, the better! 🙂

Also, please don’t forget – in the event that you are awarded a scholarship, you must be enrolled in your school for next year before we can issue a check to your school. Please enroll for next year as soon as you can.
